The epic last chapters of The Story: Pastor David Riemenschneider concludes “The Story” series, a chronological journey through the entire Bible.

The Apostle John reports that Jesus Christ [the Lion of Judah] was a lamb who was willingly and mercilessly killed.  Christ on the cross became the “slain” lamb, offered as a substitutionary atonement.  In Revelation 5 , it is the central focus at the throne of God in heaven.  The concluding chapters of the Bible [Revelation 19-22] describe Jesus Christ’s return to earth again, not as a lamb, but as the awesome , conquering victor over evil once and forever.

Sometimes the gospel truth gets some major “push back”.  When confronted by the gospel truth, some people own up to it.  At times the gospel truth is on a collision course with the culture.  “The crowd” can be dynamic, persuasive, and quite wrong!!  ….

The Texts: Acts 2-4  ; “The Story” Chapter 28.    ….    Pastor David Riemenschneider delivers this weeks message, on this 35th anniversary of Bloomingdale Church.  Pastor David relates Acts 2-4 and “the Story” Chapter 28  to the mission statement of Bloomingdale church. Worship is acknowledging God as the absolute Creator and Sustainer of the universe who cares about our lives and offers forgiveness of our sins through Christ’s  cross.  Prayer is a really big deal and should be evidenced by our prayer habits.  We need to learn the Word of God because that is what keeps us on track!  We should care about a partnership in a shared life.   We also need to spread the Gospel to everyone. What we say and what we do should be parallel.

Jesus’ words ARE knowledge.  Anyone in our lives that we harbor bitterness or resentment for needs to be forgiven by us as soon as possible, like today!  The ability to forgive is always in the hands of the one forgiving. Forgiveness is always in our power.    We should not do acts of righteousness for the respect of others or to feel good about ourselves. For whom are we living our faith?   We should not let worry take over our lives, because after all, can we do a better job than God in our lives??   How do we spend our time, talents, and treasures?  What do we value? Upon what are we building our lives, and what will we offer God as our legacy?     ….    This weeks T.A.P.:  Monday 3/11/13: Matthew 5:1-16 [ The Story page 340]  ..  Tuesday 3/12/13: Matthew 6:1-18 [The Story page 341]  ..  Wednesday 3/13/13 : Matthew 6:19-34 [The Story page 341]  ..  Thursday 3/14/13: Matthew 7:13-29 [The Story page 342]  ..  Friday 3/15/13: John 6:32-71 [ The Story page 350].
