Who We Are

bloomingdale church story

Present

The Bloomingdale Church congregation is  people from a variety of church heritages (and those with no church background at all) who appreciate the church’s focus on the practical application of the Bible to everyday life.

Past

Bloomingdale Church began as a new congregation on April 2, 1978.  Several families from the  Lombard Bible Church and Blanchard Alliance Church in Wheaton came together to plant the church.  Starting with five families, the church met in a local school.  In the initial years,  Dr. David Riemenschneider invested an effort in completing a systematic survey in the  neighborhoods and inviting people to the church. The congregation grew and moved to an initial building on the present five-acre parcel on Glen Ellyn Road in July 1979. The property also included a small brick farmhouse that is still a part of the church campus.

In 1984, the young congregation took a step of faith and a major commitment to construct the present sanctuary.  Five years later in 1989, the congregation added a large activity center with the vision of providing a safe place for the youth. The church acted as its own contractor and completed the activity center in 1990.  Then in 1995, the congregation embraced the challenge of doubling the size of the sanctuary and adding seven new classrooms, including the 264 Coffee House.  On Mothers Day 2007, the Bloomingdale Church family broke ground again on the Phase Four addition that provided additional space for large group meetings, more children’s classrooms, an elevator and additional parking.

Over the years, many new friends have come to the Bloomingdale Church family. Many have discovered a personal relationship with Christ; others have been nurtured in their faith and challenged to a growing walk with Christ. Bloomingdale Church has been a part of the ordination of a dozen assistant pastors and has assisted in the launching of several other congregations.

Future

The values of the church’s mission statement guide its priorities and programs.  The church strives diligently to be a “worshiping, praying, learning, caring, and outreaching community.”  Some of the activities and programs will change as the times change, but in God’s grace, the church’s commitment to the Bible and its practical instructions will govern the church’s future.

  2. Bloomingdole Church is the best Church I have ever had the honor of attending, as well as being a member of. I am moving too far to continue being a regular attending member, but I will always hold a place in my heart for all the wonderful individuals and families I met there. Every chance I get I will visit you all. In closing if anyone reading this is in the process of looking for a Spiritual home for you and your family, your search is over. Give The Family of Bloomingdale Church a chance to win you over as they did my Family and Friends. I LOVE all of you.

  3. I moved to Crystal Lake in 2006 and STILL cannot find a church that comes close to what I found at Bloomingdale Church. Zac and I miss the sermons, the people and the wonderful connection.
