Leadership

Pastors & Staff

Our pastoral team are ordained pastors who have been been formally trained with appropriate college and graduate education.   They are accountable to demonstrate consistent, God honoring lives, leading the congregation as “servant leaders” like Jesus emphasized.

David (& Marina) Riemenschneider

Dr. David Riemenschneider has been the Lead Pastor since April 1978. David and his wife, Marina, have two married sons, Daniel and Joel. David regularly teaches at the weekend worships, leads the Monday Night Men’s group, and oversees the church ministry  Marina serves as the Women’s Break Bible study teacher and PAK teacher.

David and Marina met at Nyack College (New York).  David graduated with a Master’s Degree in education from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.  He also completed a Master’s Degree in psychology and earned a doctor’s degree  from Denver Theological Seminary.  Marina was trained as a elementary school teacher and has taught in both private and the public schools.  Besides David and Marina’s love for serving people in the community, they also enjoy hiking, biking, reading. David enjoys making wood creations in the garage. Marina loves being Italian, which means she enjoys hospitality, cooking, and living life enthusiastically.

Bill (& Nancy) Calvin

Dr. Bill Calvin became an Associate Pastor in July 2003. Bill and his wife, Nancy, have two children, Joel and Nicole. Bill oversees  the church’s adult education, the Alpha program, ushers, deacons, prayer teams, and outreach events.

Bill graduated from Malone College (Ohio), earned a Master’s degree in education at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and a Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary (California). Nancy has a Master’s degree in mathematics from the University of Akron.   Bill is an avid runner and has completed  several marathons.  Bill has a love for reading, running, telling jokes and laughing a lot.  Nanc’y's delicious cooking and care is enjoyed by many.

Dan (& Katie Bailey)

Dan Bailey serves as the Music Director  at Bloomingdale Church. They both completed their bachelor’s degrees at Wheaton College (Dan in vocal performance in the prestigious Wheaton Conservatory. and Katie in elementary education). Dan also attended Wheaton College Graduate School, completing his Master’s degree in Intercultural Studies.  Katie is a public elementary school teacher. Dan and Katie grew up in Missouri, Kansas City and St. Louis, respectively. They are honored to be serving at Bloomingdale Church.  In his free time, Dan enjoys songwriting, reading and spending time in nature, especially with Katie.  Katie enjoys cooking, photography, and gardening.

Paul Thompson

Paul Thompson serves as a pastoral intern with Bloomingdale Church.  He received his bachelors degree from the University of Idaho before coming to Illinois.  He is currently attending Trinity Evangelical Divinity School where he is studying for his Masters of Divinity. Paul enjoys reading, hanging out with people, learning about other cultures, and playing strategy board games.

 

Daniel (& Amy) Riemenschneider

Daniel Riemenschneider has served as the Youth and Communications pastor since 2004.  As youth pastor, he oversees the youth ministry vision casting, communication of mission, Sunday night youth group, The Mentoring Project, student spiritual formation and group development. Daniel enjoys serving in this church because he was positively influenced by caring adults in this community as a teenager himself.  Also as Communications Director, he oversees the video team, information technology, web design, graphic design, branding, and social media in the church. Daniel attended Toccoa Falls College (Georgia) and completed a Master’s degree in educational ministries and a second degree in counseling at Wheaton College.   He enjoys spending time with his wife, friends and family, graphic design, listening to music, exploring the outdoors and climbing the taller peaks of  the Rocky Mountains.  Daniel married his longtime friend Amy in 2010.  Amy enjoys serving the teens at church with Daniel as well as the larger community as a Registered Nurse at a local hospital, and likes watching HGTV. 

Matt (& Christine) Massie

Matt & Christine Massie serve with the High School ministry, and lead the Friday night high school 264.coffeehouse. They both graduated from Malone University in Canton, Ohio. Matt has a degree in Bible and Theology, and Christine’s degree is in Integrated Language Arts. They met while serving as resident assistants at Malone. Matt likes drumming, disc golf, coffee, learning about the Middle east, camping, and drooling over the REI catalog. Christine likes yoga, cooking, and spending quality time with friends and family.

 

Jennifer Hampshire

Jennifer Hampshire serves as the  junior high director.  She grew up in Cherry Hill, New Jersey and graduated from Toccoa Falls College (Georgia) with a degree in Cross-Cultural Studies in May 2008.  Jen completed a master degree in counseling at Wheaton College.  Jen loves finding ways to care for people.  She has enjoyed leading  multiple youth missions trips to Latin America.

Dan (& Amber) Marcello

Dan & Amber Marcello serve as the  children’s director at Bloomingdale Church.  Dan graduated from SUNY Oneonta College with a degree in elementary education;  Amber graduated from Crown College with a degree in intercultural studies. Dan attended Wheaton College Graduate School, completing his Master’s degree in Intercultural Studies & TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). Dan and Amber met on a missions trip in Ecuador in 2007. They share a love of people, serving Jesus, soccer, and being outdoors.  Amber is a gifted artist and loves painting large murals.

Administration

Carol Moore and Donna Freeman oversee the church office.  Carol and her husband, Walt, have been members since 1980. They are very proud of their three grandchildren. Donna and her husband, Rick, originally connected with Bloomingdale Church when their daughter attended the church’s Day Camp fifteen years ago. They have four children and one loving dog named Charlie.

Lay Leaders

Our church lay leaders are accountable to have a personal life  consistent with the standards of  the Bible for leadership (1 Timothy 3.)  They are elected to these offices by the congregation.

Our church is governed and guided by three different teams of lay leaders:

Our Shepherd’s Team (elders) gives spiritual focus and direction to the congregation.

Our Governing Board is the administrative team that handles the operational and policy matters of the church.

Our Deacon/Deaconess Team seeks to meet the needs of those who are sick or facing special physical issues.

The Shepherds Team

Primary focus: “priorities, people, prayer”

1. The prayer intercessors for the church. 2.  Keep the church program focused on the spiritual priorities of  the mission & vision statement. 3. Shepherd each of the members spiritually. 4. Give the pastors guidance/feedback to the staff.

5. Approve new members and carry out church disciplinary issues.6. Oversee the selection of new pastors.

The Governing Board

Primary focus: “policy, purse, prayer”

1.  The prayer intercessors for the church. 2.  Maintain functional administrative policies for the church that keep the church on its mission and vision statement. This includes the management of the church     properties, resources and  budget, including staff compensation. 3.  Keep legal records, including minutes and treasurer’s report of business meetings. 4.  Assure good stewardship of the church finances. Hold each of the board members and ministry group leaders in the church accountable to their designated responsibilities via the defined lines of authority.

The Deacons’ Team

Primary focus: “people, problems, prayer”

1. The prayer intercessors for the church. 2. Serve  as a care team in meeting the needs of those who are sick, discouraged or have practical needs in the church. 3. Support people in crisis, personal transitionsloss and coordinate the church family in meeting these needs. 4. Administrate the Deacons (Benevolent) Fund. 5. Prepare communion for the worship hours. 6. Participate in outreach and welcoming activities including 1st Base Luncheons.
