The COACH Training One-Day Workshop

I meet with a lot of people.

I help people move forward by leading groups / cohorts / meetings.

I am a content facilitator.

If you are a leader in any organization you can probably relate to any of the above. Much of what we do is enhanced by our facilitation skills. Oh and then there is getting adult learning theory right i.e. content that actually sticks and transforms.

Learning and practicing coaching skills can significantly help you – as you meet with people, lead groups, and facilitate content. Coaching is not a new program or another thing to add to your already busy schedule. Coaching is an approach to interacting.

The COACH Training One-Day is a workshop designed for leaders. It is short enough to do it in a day (7 hours + breaks) and significant enough that you will gain confidence in implementing the framework into everyday life.

This workshop is very practical and interactive, with lots of skills practice built in. Topic and skills covered in this practical and interactive workshop include:

  • How to listen actively so others feel you understand them
  • How to ask powerful questions that initiate a change of thinking
  • How to generate feedback that avoids defensiveness
  • How to design action steps that will actually be accomplished
  • How to follow-up to increase learning and accountability

Life Coaching Group

What is the gap between where you are now and where you want to be?

You’re invited to a coaching group in which we will partner together in a thought-provoking and creative process to increase awareness and design action toward your God-designed potential.

The Life Coaching Group is a guided discovery and coaching experience designed to help you understand the resources God placed in you that set you apart. Each of us has a unique identity profile because God knew we would need it to do the good works God prepared in advance for us. You may not really understand your identity until you can explain it concisely using common language that would make sense to anyone, even if they’ve never heard of the tools or resources that helped you discover your identity. Using the Identity Profile Self-Awareness Tool (IPSAT) and being affirmed by a safe, authentic coaching group, you will learn what you do best, where you can grow, and how to communicate this information with others.

New Life Coaching Groups being offered:

Wednesdays 6:30-8pm, Oct 13-Nov 17 @ Hope Center, upper level conference room (260 Glen Ellyn Road, Bloomingdale)

Thursdays 9-10:30am, Oct 14-Nov 18 @ Hope Center, upper level conference room (260 Glen Ellyn Road, Bloomingdale)

To accommodate everyone please wear a mask inside.

“I was at a transition period in my life and found this process – to review my personality, strengths, skills, gifts and passions – is helping me move into the next stage of my life.  The group environment gave me invaluable feedback that I would not have found working alone.” Bill W

“It’s such an eclectic group of people, and even though I’m not very comfortable speaking in a group setting, this group is exceptional, and I feel more comfortable than any other group I’ve been involved with. I feel like the activity last night of sharing and then people asking questions, was wonderful. … I feel like this group is a safe space, and that’s very unusual for me to feel this way.  I think the group members feel they’re in a safe space, and therefore can be vulnerable.  I love seeing others vulnerable because it’s a good reminder of the fact that everyone has their stuff and no one is in it alone. Thank you for providing this space for us to learn and grow.  I feel so blessed to be on this journey with you and the rest of the group.” Ellen C

Value Added

“In looking back at the times in my life when I have felt the most energized it has been when my disposition, strengths, and skills have been in alignment – layered – each fueling the other/s. Additionally, when I have felt the most drained in my work/purpose – I can now see – with more precision what aspect of my best self was not being nourished.” -Katie M, middle school teacher

“I was trying to get out of a creative rut and an identity rut. When I went through the IPSAT it was perfect timing! I have noticed a change in myself toward embracing my creativity and passion for helping young adults. The IPSAT can also be a great tool during the career shaping process.” -Alexandra B, designer

“While I have taken a number of personality and strengths tests over the years, the IPSAT filled a unique niche by asking me to distill the scores into meaningful observations about myself that have helped me create a personal mission statement that excites and inspires me.” -Gordon S, HR professional

The Whole City Celebrates (Course)

Sundays in June, 10:30-11:30am – Common Grounds room at Bloomingdale Church

“This (course) helped me understand how each person’s unique talents contribute to the success of the whole community. I would definitely recommend this (course) to others, as the perspectives from each speaker were valuable lessons in how we can better serve our community by figuring out what we are best at and then using those skills to help others.”

Drawing from the helpfulness of the 7-week virtual version, the Whole City Celebrates Course continues for 4 weeks in-person at Bloomingdale Church.

The format of the course prioritizes conversation and new discoveries. Participants are encouraged to check-in to share new awareness and actions taken. A guest practitioner will speak on a topic followed by a facilitated discussion. In this mastermind course we seek to explore two questions: 1) What felt need in my city has God invited me to meet? 2) What does God-designed success look like?

God’s plan has always been to restore hope. He chooses to deliver hope through us. God strategically placed you in this community, in your workplace, in your family, and with your friends. You have influence. You have talents and passions. And when you align your God-inspired impact toward your city … “the whole city celebrates.” (Proverbs 11:10)

Guest Practitioners

  • June 6 – Jeanette W: Advocacy Through Board Participation and Community Engagement
  • June 13 – Ray A: Meeting People and Felt Needs in Small Business, Social Media, Recovery Groups, and More
  • June 20 – Therese Z & Daniel R: The Un-Separation of Church & School
  • June 27 – A Worker in North Africa: Making Meaningful Connections Across Cultures

Past Guest Practitioners have included:

  • Judi W – How the food pantry helps us see the uniqueness and value of every person
  • Mark & Kora T – Developing people without a position, property, or platform
  • Dave L – Managing projects and driving outcomes i.e. “keeping the plate spinning” and “sinking the putt”
  • Joe & Brittany – Why and how we changed jobs so that we could serve others using our skills and passions
  • Jason T – A small business owner’s perspective on building a team to accomplish a vision
  • Sean Mitchell – Serving along the way as a high school pool technician, father, and neighbor

Response

“A safe place to share.

“I love hearing how others are incorporating & listening to God in their everyday lives & trying to figure out how I can apply those nuggets of wisdom in my daily life.”

“Being able to hear various perspectives on how people use their unique skills to better the community. The Q&A is very helpful as well, I felt it let the speak expand on the topics they discussed and provide more insight into how they serve the community.”

Imago DEI Course

“God created us in his own image” (Genesis 1:27). The Creator of every detail of our universe magnificently designed us to reflect Him in our moral, spiritual, and intellectual essence. The doctrine of the Imago Dei is a driver of who we are and how we are to value every person as equally made in God’s image.

The past year has been essential in bringing racial equality to the forefront of conversation in our nation and communities. At the individual level, our experiences of racial injustice are not equal. And still, we are each accountable for our actions.

In this course, we will:

  • Orientate ourselves to see and value every person as made in God’s image (Gen 1:27)
  • Seek to live with humility like Jesus, so as to be better positioned to grow in awareness to navigate inequalities and celebrate diversity (Romans 12:3-5)
  • Celebrate God’s design for diversity, people from every nation, tribe, people and language (Revelation 7:9), by intentionally growing our relationship networks
  • Design action and a commitment to be more compassionately engaged in our community

The intention of this group is to be a safe, authentic community made up of a diversity of people and perspectives. The weekly design includes:

  • Connect – attendees are invited to join early
  • Check-in on actions taken
  • Discuss content
  • Highlight new awareness and course personal action

Primary and supplemental readings will be given for each subsequent class. Please consider purchasing the following books:
The Image of God (Glen Sunshine)
How to Fight Racism (Jemar Tisby

There seems to be much anticipation about this new year. Maybe it is because hindsight is now (literally) 2020. Or perhaps this past year exposed some things about who you are and what you are prioritizing with your life. What are you doing about this?

As many as 50 percent of adults in the United States make New Year’s resolutions, but fewer than 10 percent keep them for more than a few months. Are any of the following reasons true of you?:

  • Ignoring the past when your patterns are a better predictor of the future
  • Not being connected to your “why”
  • Pretending it is a goal when it is really wishful thinking
  • Not keeping score or accountable
  • Focusing on lag rather than lead measures
  • Not setting goals based on your personality type

In this three-week mastermind course, we will:

  1. Explore multiple practices for setting and achieving goals
  2. Support each other in the process of crafting achievable 2021 goals

This course is designed for individuals who:

  • Appreciate the value of the group process
  • Want to set goals reflective of what God is speaking to them
  • (This course also pairs well with the self-paced Life Designing Course)

Life Designing Course

“Hindsight is 20/20.” Perhaps this seasoned saying hits a little closer to home as you look back on this past year. Conceivably 2020 exposed some things about who you are and what you are prioritizing with your life.

Or maybe there is something else – a life experience, a thought that keeps coming to mind, a consultation from someone you trust, a whisper from God – that you are ready to do something about but you are not fully confident of what it entails or how you would go about pursuing it.

To look forward, we start by looking back – that’s 20/20 vision.

It’s hard to get far on your own in designing a plan around the purpose of your next season, let alone the purpose of your life, but with the help of a guide and some personal grit, you can achieve this.

Enroll in the self-paced Life Designing Course

You will work through these three modules:

  • Journey from my START (What has shaped who I am?)
  • Journey to SELF (How am I uniquely designed?)
  • Journey to be SENT (What am I aligned to do?)

Each of three modules include:

  • an introduction video
  • guided questions laid out in a participant guide
  • supplemental exercises

By engaging in this self-paced program, you will:

  1. Put together a written design for the future you sense God has entrusted to you
  2. Develop actionable and achievable goals to get you closer to your envisioned future from your current reality
