Have You Ever Considered Reading the Whole Bible?
Around 1950, the University of Chicago was alarmed at the ignorance of their student body. The thirty-year-old university president, Robert Hutchins, and a brilliant professor, Mortimer Adler came up with a course of study to ensure that a person was educated. This course became known as the Great Books of the Western World, a 54-volume canon of reading and study for those who wish to be truly educated. The book they especially wanted their students to read and know was the Bible.
Have you ever considered the Bible as part of your bucket list of books to read and know? We are endeavoring to help 100 hundred people read the Bible in its entirety in 2019. We call this group the Bible Breakfast Club. We will all be reading the exact same Bibles so that we are all on the same page as we discuss what we liked, what bothered us, and what we learned about God and ourselves.
The Bible Breakfast Club begins Sun Jan 6, 9:30-10:45am. We meet every Sunday in the Common Grounds room of the church. The breakfast is free. The Bible costs $10. If you are interested in being part of this club, a table discussion leader, or on one of the eight food teams, click here to register.
