Volunteer at Day Camp 2020

Do you love hanging out with kids? How about a week in the summer having a blast singing, fishing, crafting, and playing games? Our annual Day Camp is happening June 16-19 and we are looking for volunteers to create a safe and welcoming event.

Required for All Volunteers

  • Adult & Teen Volunteer Meeting (Wed May 6, 6:30-8:30pm)
  • Attend Prep Day (Monday June 15, 8:30am-1pm.) Prep Day Schedule: 8:30am: Doors open. Meet with your classroom or team. 10am: Pray with your team. 10:30am: Final meeting for all adult volunteers, including learning emergency procedures. 11am-1pm: Decorate classrooms.
  • Day Camp – June 16-19, 9AM to 12:15PM. Volunteers arrive at 8AM.

NextGen Volunteer Requirements

  • You must have attended Bloomingdale Church for at least 6 months and must be a NextGen Approved Volunteer.
  • All volunteers will need to complete new NextGen application beginning May 1 (Click here to fill out the application).

Day Camp Volunteer Position Descriptions

Classroom Leader

Hang out with a specific grade of kids as you guide them through their daily camp activities. (One week, June)

  • Serve as a team with assistance of other Classroom Leaders and Classroom Helpers, in decorating your classroom and preparing daily learning activities
  • Accompany kids to their activities and participate with them as they do crafts, fish, and play games
  • Be a friend and get to know the kids and families throughout the week

*Classroom Helper

Hang out with a specific grade of kids as you guide them through their daily camp activities. (One week, June)

  • Serve as a team under the Classroom Leaders, in decorating the classroom and preparing daily learning activities
  • Accompany kids to their activities and participate with them as they do crafts, fish, and play games
  • Be a friend and get to know the kids and families throughout the week

*Drama/Opening Team

Hang out with kids and prepare skits for the large group time. (One week, June)

  • Prepare to present skits for daily large group sessions
  • Be a friend and get to know the kids and families throughout the week

*Music Team

Participate in large group music sets as a team. (One week, June)

  • Before Day Camp, participate in band practices
  • Be a friend and get to know the kids and families throughout the week

*Media Team

Serve on the video, screen, or sound team during daily large group sessions. (One week, June)

  • Serve under Worship Director
  • Be a friend and get to know the kids and families throughout the week

*Snack Team

Serve with a team to prepare the daily snack. (One week, June)

  • Prepare and clean up the snack or classes each day
  • Be a friend and get to know the kids and families throughout the week

*Craft Team

Hang out with kids and lead crafts. (One week, June)

  • Supervise children as they participate in crafts for 30 minute segments
  • Be a friend and get to know the kids and families throughout the week

Day Camp Office

Help Day Camp run by managing the behind-the-scenes details

  • Run reports and be available to assist with snacks
  • Be available for any parents/guardians who stop by with a question or to check-out their child
  • Be a friend and get to know the kids and families throughout the week

Check-In Team

Check in children as they arrive, creating a safe and welcoming environment. (One week, June)

  • Strive to make a personal connection with each guest
  • Assist with pre-registration data entry
  • Be a friend and get to know the kids and families throughout the week

Greeter Team

Greet children and families as they arrive to be checked-in. (One week, June)
