“From Shepherd to King — part 2” > November 17+18 , 2012

Under divine guidance, Samuel, the respected spiritual leader in Israel, made an unexpected visit and announced that David would be the next king. Samuel symbolically anointed him with oil. Then, David simply went back to his shepherd life for a while until his dramatic encounter with Goliath, the fierce giant of the enemy Philistines. David eventually became the second king of Israel (1010 to 970 B.C.)  and the recipient of the promise that the Messiah would come from his family line.    ….    This weeks message is the next in the series on “The Story” , a chronological journey through the entire Bible, and is delivered by Pastor David Riemenschneider. The message is preceded by the call to worship, and readings from Psalms 23 , 84 , 2 , and Revelation 19.  During the message, we get a surprise visit from Goliath himself!!.  David was not terrified, but he trusted God was with him.  Davids model for us to follow is to trust God with confidence to help us handle all fearful events.   The message is followed by the Benediction.
