At Crossroads Kids Club, children at a public elementary school in Bloomingdale are learning about Jesus! This is truly an awesome blessing and privilege – we thank God for this!
We’re having fun and praising God that we get to see children receive their first Bible and hear the Good News, some for the first time. We pray that God would open the eyes of these children and their families, that they would see Jesus – the Way, and the Truth, and the Life.
Please join us in praying that God would clear a path for us to open up another club and share His name with more students in Bloomingdale, Illinois.

What on earth are the kids at Crossroads Kids Club doing? They are branches, connected to the Vine, Jesus Christ!
And that’s a wrap!
A Wrap Up Party, that is. On April 25, Crossroads Kids Club said goodbye for the summer, but not before the end-of-year celebration. The party began with a special snack: Oreo Sundaes! Each part of the sundae stood for a different truth found in the Bible.
Then the Club headed outside to the playground for different “Minute-to-Win-It” games, like
“Penny Stack” and “Ping Pong Relay.” The highlight of the party was the Graduation Ceremony, where each Crossroads Member received a gift, and the 5th Graders were recognized before finishing their last year at Crossroads.
Crossroads Kids Club is hosted at our neighborhood school, DuJardin Elementary and includes snack, games, a Bible lesson, and small group. It is run by Bloomingdale Church volunteers who are committed to investing in the lives of kids in our community.
Crossroads Kids Club runs every Tuesday, 3:30-5pm, September-April.
55 years ago, Helen started volunteering with children’s programming. She has not stopped serving since!
“I cannot imagine not working with children, teaching them to know Jesus’s love. They have an eagerness to learn and accept the truths they are taught.”
“Children’s ministry has its own struggles,” Helen said, “like times and culture changing throughout the years.” Serving while working full-time was a challenge as well but Helen has learned to adapt and ask God for help.
“There’s nothing more exciting than spending time with children. I’m currently involved in Sunday School, Crossroads at DuJardin Elementary School, and Awana. If you want a blessing, I encourage you to consider becoming involved in serving the Lord in some way: Listen to Bible verses at Awana or spend time with some amazing boys and girls at DuJardin on Tuesday afternoons. God will bless you immeasurably!”
Helen’s favorite memory from serving in KidsQuest has been watching kids grow from making gingerbread houses together in Sunday School to becoming current leaders in the church, like current Bloomingdale Church staff members Chris and Brent Steinke. “I get tears in my eyes as I watch these boys and girls grow up, especially to be baptized and serve the Lord.”
At Bloomingdale Church, KidsQuest programs are designed to be fun, safe, and a welcoming place for families. But what makes these programs run? Volunteers – adults and teens who give their time to serving kids and families. Thank you, Helen, and 200+ other volunteers!

For our Crossroads Kids Club Christmas celebration, the children showed off their acting skills by learning and performing a nativity play – all in one day! As a way to share the beginning of the Gospel story, Crossroads participants portrayed the 2000 year old story of God’s son coming to Earth humbly as a baby in a manger, surrounded by barn animals and shepherds. With refreshments and treats for the parents afterwards, it was a heart-warming experience for all of our Crossroads families. We’re so proud of our Crossroads Kids for all of their hard work!
Crossroads Kids Club is a weekly school-based, church-led ministry that seeks to help children find and follow Jesus. Club meets Tuesdays at our local public school DuJardin Elementary and features Bible lessons, small groups, games and a snack. The goal is to connect caring adults with children to form healthy relationships that will point the children toward Jesus.
