OnMission 2017: Dominican Republic

By Danny Muñoz on May 24, 2017

Jesus reminds his followers that he “did not come to be served, but to serve and give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45)

Part of what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ is to serve others out of a conviction to be like Jesus that is rooted in Christ’s love for us. Our students will have an opportunity to serve in Santiago de Los Caballeros, Dominican Republic this July.

We will be aiding the National Alliance Church in building a national youth center for camps, conferences, retreats and other national Alliance Youth events. We will also be partnering with Envision Dominican Republic (DR), an Alliance organization devoted to making Jesus known to others through filling practical needs and working alongside local churches in their communities.

One of the unique aspects of our trip will be going into the city in groups, each with a translator, two members of the Envision DR team, and a member of the local church. These partners will be working with us in order to meet the locals, hear their stories and help us share ours. In this way, we will be immersing ourselves in the culture and offer us the chance to have meaningful conversations about faith and life.

Students will also be posting about their experiences in DR by blogging at: http://storiesof.us/programs/onmissiontrip/
