1820s and Feed My Starving Children

The 1820somethings is a group of 18-30 year old individuals who strive to worship Jesus throughout our day-to-day life. We meet twice weekly to study the Bible on Thursday nights and Sunday mornings. We also aim to worship Jesus by serving our community.

On Thursday, March 16 at 7pm, our group will serve at Feed My Starving Children in Schaumburg. FMSC is a Christian organization focused on turning hunger into hope for starving children around the world. We’ll be packing meals into bags which are then shipped to reach the neediest children.

If you’d like to join us, we’re meeting in the Common Grounds room to carpool. We’re excited to meet new people and have several open spots!

Good Times and Serving?

By Brent Steinke on November 3, 2016

Combining good times with helping those who are less fortunate.  This is was the goal of the 2nd annual BC5K held on Sat Oct 8th.

My name is Brent Steinke and I was a part of the team that organized the BC5K that benefits Feed my Starving Children.  On the day of the event we were blessed with clear skies and young blood competition for the 5K, which was walked and run by over 50 participants.

14650102_10154603261404231_6653469096652938558_nParticipants ran, gave, and served to benefit starving children around the world through Feed My Starving Children. With the race starting mid-day Saturday, men, women, and children took toward the starting line. Many huffed, many puffed, and wheezed their ways to the finish line, but all for a greater purpose than running.

After the well-fought race, runners and families enjoyed the outdoors, eating pizza and fruit, recalling their racing heroics. All the while the children played on bouncy houses from Dino Jump.

After the race and afternoon activities we got back together at night and packed meals at Feed My Starving Children. There, we presented the organization with $1400 to benefit starving children around the world.

This was the 2nd BC5K and Feed My Starving Children serving event hosted by Bloomingdale Church, and I can’t express enough how much I love it and can’t wait to be a part of it next year.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us…

Hebrews 12:1

The first annual Bloomingdale Church 5k to benefit Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) was a blast!  On Sat Sep 19, the Bloomingdale Church 5k got off to a great start with beautiful weather (Which we really can’t take credit for). Runners began to arrive at 11 to check in and receive their t-shirts and gifts for participating! Once check-in was finished, it was off to the races (pun intended)!

After an amazing finish by our very own Justin C, we then proceeded to eat, listen to live music, watch kids play on bouncy houses, and enjoy one another’s company. After a couple hours people started packing up their things and heading home.

But the day wasn’t done for many of us, so we got back together later that evening to serve at FMSC in schaumburg by packing meals for starving children around the world!

The day was jam-packed, but it was a blast! We look forward to putting this event on for years to come!

18.20somethings – Jan 14 @ Feed My Starving Children

10393548_10205051504980629_7162403940317285748_nDoes your heart ever ache for those pictures you see of children around the world who are going hungry?   Do you want to do something about it?  If so, our group the 18.20somethings  are heading out to Feed My Starving Children on Thurs Jan 14, 7-9:45pm to help pack meals for starving children around the world. We will be meeting at Bloomingdale Church in the Common Grounds room (upper level north doors).

Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit Christian organization committed to feeding God’s children hungry in body and spirit. Its strategy is simple. Children and adults hand-pack dried meals formulated for malnourished children and ship the well-packed meals to nearly 70 countries around the world.
