While leading a small group, I felt a prompt to stop and ask, “Hey guys, what’s a question that’s been on your mind in regards to your relationship with God or something that provoked your thinking?”
The side conversations stopped almost instantly. For the next 45 minutes, the discussion ranged from the ‘LGBTQ Day of Silence,’ to a teacher criticizing the students question about his Christian faith. Another question, “How do I respond to my brother who doesn’t trust God anymore?”
We looked at how the Bible responds to these issues, and how we should respond to these probing questions and issues.
Not only was it evident that a weight was lifted off the students, but as leaders, Anna and I (Nate), walked away encouraged. God’s Word always applies to our life–meaning our actual daily choices and life situations. Our teens are learning that and finding joy through it.
